After a successful 13-year stint in law, Filipe made a dramatic career switch and has been impressing the miniature painting scene for the past seven years. His talents, recognized in several Brazilian competitions, have led to collaborations with studios like Loot StudiosĀ and ourselves, as well as with private collectors worldwide. Filipe also shares his knowledge through his course, Caern Essential (available only inĀ portuguese as of now, but that can change in the near future), and his support and friendship have been invaluable to Flesh Of Gods, adding a special touch to our painting challenge.

Filipe Caern's review:

Excelent Textures
The textures in this piece were handled exceptionally well, with tonal variation adding depth to almost all areas.

ColorĀ Choice
The focus and color choices were well executed, highlighting the character design. The OSL was good but could be pushed a bit further.

General Improvement
The transitions in certain areas are a bit too noticeable, and the contrast is somewhat timid in certain spots, which could benefit from being more pronounced.

Filipe Caern's review:

StrongĀ Foundations
The focus, color harmony, and contrast were applied well, with contrast being particularly strong. The textures are solid, and the gem is outstanding.

Lighting and DepthĀ
The color variation adds depth to the miniature, with nice highlights and shadows. Transitions are good, but could beĀ improved by working on theĀ smoothness.

General Improvement
The lighting and vibrance of the skin are good but could use improvement, especially on the figureās abdomen, where it feels less harmonious compared to the rest of the piece.

Filipe Caern's review:

Color Palette
The piece features an excellent choice of colors that work together beautifully, creating a visually cohesive look. The skin is well executed, and the Non-Metallic Metal shines with skill.

Masterful OSL
The Object Source Lighting (OSL) is the highlight of the piece, with appropriate interactions that enhance the setting. The embers' effects are also very well executed.

General Improvement
Some transitions are slightly marked, particularly in close-up views. Smoothing these transitions would elevate the overall quality even more.
